There is an opinion that life is not limited to protein forms.
According to Blavatskaya, there were five races on the Earth in total. The first
is disembodied and invisible spirits, the second is Hyperboreans, the third
is Lemurians, the fourth is Atlantean giants, and humans are only the fifth
one… This is my favorite, an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Still, Elena
Petrovna should not be underestimated. After all, she not only collected all
the stupidities accumulated by the end of the XIX century, but also added a
lot to them from her personally. She was a creative person.
By the way, about spirits, invisible and disembodied. Is live on the basis of
a field possible, at least theoretically? In science fiction, this is a very
popular topic. And even in the comments to the articles there are many persons,
who want to populate the Sun and stars with beings technically non-combustible,
because they are entirely electromagnetic.
The answer, of course, will be negative. At the same time, it does not matter
what fields are being discussed – even if they are unknown – and what kind of
life is it. The problem arises at the very core. Moreover, it is when considering
the phenomenon of life from the standpoint of informatics, which method is extremely
popular in alternative science communities. The field cannot independently store
information and have a structure. For example, because it is a subjective entity
invented by us to describe physical phenomena; moreover, an outdated one.
Many people have heard about the photon. Strangely, even the choicest supporters
of alternative views past the textbook do not deny the reality of quanta visible
to the naked eye. But since photons exist, then everything called “fields” are
just streams of particles moving at the speed of light. The higher the energy
of the quanta, the greater the “frequency of the field” will be. And lesser
the “wavelength” also. By changing the density of the particle flow, information
can be transmitted using the field. However, something radiating these particles
will be required. By itself, without a source continuously expending energy
to generate a flow, the field does not exist in any sense.
And don’t forget the structure… Obviously, the field may well have a structure
that is arbitrarily complex and stable, but again, completely dependent on sources.
For example, in a dusty atmosphere, the intersecting beams of searchlights can
depict a certain “structure”. That is, you can fantasize about the structure
of the field as much as you like, but it exists only insofar as it is created
and maintained from the outside.
Thus, the error lies in the perception of the field as a kind of conditional
“cloud”. The field is light. If you turn off the light bulb, it will disappear,
because the photons emitted by it while it was switched on will be absorbed
by obstacles or fly into outer space. There will be no new photons.
...But let’s put the question differently. Let the sources be necessary. But
is it possible to create a field-based life? If the complexity of the field
structure is potentially unlimited, then will this structure, for example, be
able to think? No, it can’t. Just how? The quanta of the field do not interact
with each other. And this is a fundamental property of quanta – one photon passes
through another without noticing it.
What processes in the field itself, what information processing can we talk
about if the field does not interact with itself? In order for the information
to be processed, in order for the processes to go, in addition to sources emitting
quanta, receivers absorbing them are also required, and also ones changing their
state depending on the received energy. If we’re talking about receivers, then
there is nothing to invent. A laptop and a human brain can equally serve as
an example of devices in which information processes occur as a result of the
exchange of quanta.
...However, let’s try again. Here, we take as the basis of an intangible being
not a field (which is also a form of matter), but a kind of “subtle matter”.
Usually, the ether is taken, but this is a bad idea. There is simply no ether,
because photons exist. In addition, ether – in the outdated, but classical sense,
is a gas – a substance in a physical form, in which particles move chaotically.
There is no reason to talk about a stable internal structure here.
